Content

The Additional Teaching Qualification (ATQ) in Computing Studies is aimed at secondary teachers in Scotland who want to gain the university credits required to register to teach Computing Studies as a second subject.

This course provides the knowledge and skills to teach Computing Studies at all curricular levels. Working, learning and collaborating with a group of fellow teaching professionals provides a great opportunity to share experience and develop an ongoing support network. You will be mentored by current computer studies teachers. Although the focus of the course will be on computing skills, you will be encouraged to explore teaching methodologies and to develop and share learning activities, resources and ideas to put these into practice.

Entry Requirements

This course is designed for secondary teachers who wish to add a second subject to their teaching registration with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS).
To complete registration for computing studies as a second subject you will be required to apply to the GTCS. You will then be asked to complete a specified number of days of teaching Computing Studies in school to complete full registration.
It is recommended that you explore teaching options for computing studies prior to applying for the course.
