This one year course is for people working or intending to work with individuals of all ages who have additional support needs (ASN). You will develop the appropriate knowledge, skills and attitude to work effectively with individuals and multi–disciplinary agencies within education and social services.

You will undertake a range of subjects relating to ASN that include: Principles of Practice, Theoretical Approaches to Learning, The Effects on Human Development, Workplace Practice, and a Graded Unit. It would be helpful for prospective students to work within an educational setting or those who already work with people with additional support needs.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers. Or PDA Education Support Assistant or PDA Support for Learning Assistant. Interview.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
