This course is suited for adult returners to education or career changers who wish to pursue a career in Health Care. Students successfully completing this programme can articulate on to a number of degree programmes, including; Mental Health Nursing, Additional Support Needs and Social Care or HNC Health Care Practice/HNC Social Services or employment within the Health Care sector, joining the Health & Social Care career community.
Subjects covered include:
Social Influences; Supporting Children and Young People with ASN; The Human Body; Mental Health and Mental Illness; Core skills: Communications Higher, ICT and Numeracy; Social Services in Scotland.
No formal entry requirements. Students should have little or no qualifications and be out of formal education in excess of 5 years. Students must be able to demonstrate sufficient life experience to support their SWAP Access to Professional Healthcare application with the aim to further their studies to degree level. Participation at an information session, skills assessment and interview forms part of the selection criteria.
