The HND has two main aims:

To provide progression from HNC: Counselling for those specifically seeking a career in the counselling sector.

To professionalise the industry, particularly in Scotland, by providing a qualification which meets the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) requirements for individual entry to the national professional register.

Subjects Include:
Professional Standards; Research Skills; Pluralistic counselling; Psychopathology; Values and principles of counselling; Personal development; Workplace practice; BACP Certificate of Proficiency; Other optional units.

Entry Requirements

HNC Counselling. You must source your own placement.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
