This National Progression Award (NPA) in Carpentry and Joinery is an entry level certificate designed to teach you the skills needed for a career in carpentry, joinery or another construction related occupation.

During this full-time course you will study units based on entry level carpentry and joinery techniques which will enhance your knowledge of the industry and build your strong employability skills. This course works as a steppingstone towards applying for an apprenticeship in the carpentry and joinery industry or further study.


Course includes:
Health and safety in the construction industry; Technical drawing/computer aided design (CAD); Information technology; Carpentry and joinery. The Core Skills of ICT, numeracy and communication will be developed and certificated on this course.

Entry Requirements

English and Maths at National 4.

Progression Routes

This course provides the underpinning knowledge required to continue to a further education course within Built Environment or Engineering areas.
