The award is specifically for learners who are currently working within the field of health and social care but who have not yet been able to register with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as practitioners. It will allow learners to integrate the theory with current practice to provide an informed approach to health and social care.

Units include:
Clinical skills, professional standards, therapeutic relationships, mental health, human body, sociology and health in Scotland.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers at B or above and preferably Maths at National 5; or Foundation Apprenticeship in Social Services and Healthcare; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 7. You will attend for interview.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

Progression Routes

The HNC may allow entry into degree programmes.
