The HNC in Built Environment (SCQF Level 7) develops knowledge and skills in areas such as building measurement and cost studies, environmental building science, building services, construction materials and specifications, as well as sustainability and modern methods of construction.

Candidates will gain contemporary vocational skills including study, research, analysis, planning and organisational skills. They will also learn to take responsibility for their own learning and develop abilities to be flexible and to work co-operatively with others.

Delivery of the following units will give you the knowledge and skills required to progress in either further academic studies or in a related construction career.

Amongst others units are based around: -

Architectural Design Sketching and Drawing; Building Measurement and Cost Studies; Environmental Building Science; Construction Materials and Specification; Construction Site Surveying; Construction Technology; CAD - Computer-aided design.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers from English, Maths, Chemistry or Physics plus English and Maths at National 5. Interview.

Progression Routes

This course will prepare you for university degree level study or provide those who are already working in the industry with a stronger, industry-relevant skill set.
