This is an excellent science course which prepares you to progress further in a science career. It is designed to allow you to progress in Further Education on to HND Applied Biological Sciences or HND Applied Science at Fife College or to a university degree.
Alternatively, the curriculum will provide the theoretical knowledge and the laboratory skills needed to enter employment. After semester one, you will have the option to specialise in biology options or chemistry options.
You will study: Laboratory skills for the science industry; Fundamental chemistry; Biochemistry; Information technology; Mathematics; Statistics.
Biology options: Cell biology; DNA structure and genetics; Microbiology.
Chemistry options: Organic chemistry; Inorganic chemistry; Physical chemistry; Physics for life science.
Higher Biology/Human Biology or Chemistry plus 4 subjects at National 5 including Maths, Biology and Chemistry; or Foundation Apprenticeship Scientific Technologies (Laboratory Skills) plus 4 subjects at National 5 including Maths, Biology and Chemistry; or Foundation Apprenticeship Food and Drink Technologies and 1 Higher in a science subject plus National 5 Maths; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.
