Content

As well as giving you practical knowledge of horticulture, this course develops your understanding of the theory behind the practice. It embeds practical skills and knowledge through visits to nurseries, gardens and landscapes, as well as leading scientific organisations.

During your second year you'll have the chance to tailor the course to your specific interests by choosing elective modules that directly relate to your career aspirations or personal interests.

Example modules: Advanced Plant Propagation; Hardy Ornamental Nursery Stock Production; Landscape Management and Maintenance; Soils and Plant Nutrition; Plants for Gardens: Specialised Plantings.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers including a science subject plus English and Maths at National 5, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6.

Progression Routes

Year 3 BSc/BSc (Honours) Horticulture, Horticulture with Plantsmanship or Garden and Greenspace Design degree courses.
