If you are looking for an apprenticeship in electrical installation, this pre-apprenticeship course will give you an introduction to electrical installation and will help you develop the skills to progress to that next step.

The course is delivered over one year and gives you the opportunity to take part in a work placement activity over approximately three 3-week periods with an electrical installation company.

You will study:
Maths: Craft 1 and 2; Using information technology; Fundamental electrical systems; Engineering project; Inspection and testing of electrical installation; Installation of conduit systems; Earthing Systems; Electrical principles; Electrical testing and measurement; Installation of PVC sheathed wiring systems; Installation of trunking systems; Safe working practices; Communication; Information communications technology.

Entry Requirements

National 5 English and Maths plus 2 subjects at National 4, or Certificate: Construction Futures, or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4. Interview and pre-entry test.

Progression Routes

NC Built Environment or other relevant course.
