This course covers: health and safety; planning and estimating; plant establishment and maintenance; lawn care; machinery; plant protection; plant identification; supervision and management. Pa1 and Pa6 spraying certificates. (This may incur additional cost if not part of the college Modern Apprenticeship Programme).

Applicants will normally be working full-time in horticulture and have achieved SVQ at SCQF Level 5 or equivalent. The course would also be ideal for applicants with a lot of practical experience who may not have any formal qualifications. Applicants must be able to work at SCQF level 6 or above.
A Modern Apprenticeship (MA) is the standard expected of a time-served horticulturist, although SVQ Level 4 or HNC/D may offer further progression.
