This full time qualification is designed for school leavers who are looking to progress to a career in the Uniformed services. The course will develop the individual’s physical fitness, personal qualities (self-discipline, teamworking, leadership, etc.) and academic ability. The course (Level 1 Diploma for entry to the uniformed services) is nationally recognised and largely practical, with students having to improve their fitness, carry out map reading and navigating, participate in adventurous activities. Other units look at employment opportunities, health and safety, well being, discipline, and team work, related to the uniformed services.
No formal entry requirements. Entry subject to interview and fitness test.
It is expected that most successful candidates will either progress to a sports course or find a career within the Armed Forces or other uniformed service. However, each uniformed services has it's own recruitment criteria, over which the college has no influence or control.
