This course is designed to give you an overview of the industry and covers a broad range of subjects. After completing this course, you may then be eligible to progress into 2nd year of a Civil Engineering HND or related degree course (direct entry into 2nd year at some universities based on an A in the graded unit) after which you can choose what area within civil engineering you wish to specialise in, from a range of specialisms such as structures, environmental, and transportation to name a few. Choosing your own path means you can do the job you enjoy, but it also allows employers to mold you from a good grounding knowledge of Civil Engineering into an area that is in demand from industry.

You will study:
Mathematics, Geotechnics, Site Surveying, Material testing, Substructures, CAD Contract and Project Management, Communication Skills, Health and Safety, Structural Mechanics and Analysis.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers including Maths or a science subject; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.

2nd year of an HND course or to join a degree programme at University.
