Successful completion of the Access to Humanities provides progression to a range of different subjects in the arts and social sciences, including primary teaching, social work, psychology, history, politics, law and philosophy, among many others. When you click to apply for this course, you will be directed to the Access to Humanities application form, which you should complete according to the directions below.

Topics include:
Psychology, Sociology, History, Geography, Philosophy, Communications (Higher), Literature and National 5 Maths among other subjects.

In preparation for Higher Education students will also develop study skills and research skills. Candidates will be assessed using essays, class-based exams and presentations.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements, but applicants must have good written and spoken communication skills. Applicants must have been absent from formal education for a minimum of 5 years. An interview and undertake a written exercise forms part of the recruitment process.

Progression Routes

Degrees in Teaching, Social Work, Law, Arts and Social Science by securing places at the University of Glasgow, Strathclyde, Stirling, Caledonian University and The University of the West of Scotland.
