This course gives you a great foundation in the key skills areas of fashion design and garment manufacture. It’s a mixture of practical work and theory, with plenty of activities and events going on outside the workrooms too.
You will:
discover how to see into the future with fashion forecasting and WGSN, the world authority on trend forecasting and analytics; develop drawing skills for fashion and, using your trends analysis, will design your own garment collections; develop skills in digital fashion illustration, using the Kaledo software adopted by the fashion industry to design garment collections; develop a sketchbook, creating sources for concept ideas, using different approaches and techniques; look at pattern construction, learning to create pattern blocks and developing skills in pattern production for garments; learn how to use industrial sewing machines and develop skills to produce a range of garments.
4 subjects at National 5, or Arts and Crafts, or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Interview. Portfolio.
