This course will provide a good foundation in a range of child, social and health care, and to develop study skills. It will give successful students the opportunity to progress to Level 6 studies in August 2020.
Applicants should enjoy group interaction and be mature enough to work on their own initiative. We look for individuals who are enthusiastic with a positive attitude to learning and can show commitment to this full-time programme.
The course introduces a variety of care professions across statutory, voluntary and private settings; The values, principles and legislation that underpin health and social care; Child development; Introduction to mental health issues; Improving health, wellbeing, nutrition and lifestyle; Communication, numeracy and IT, contextualised to the care professions; Preparation for higher level study; Introductory biology.
2 subjects at National 5 including English plus 4 subjects at National 4; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 4.
Other qualifications and experience may be considered but the ability to work at SCQF Level 5 is essential. A genuine aptitude for working with people and good communication skills are essential.
