Sighthill Campus
The Advanced Vehicle Maintenance class is designed to give you essential knowledge and understanding of the motor vehicle engine. This is a 10-week evening class held at Edinburgh College’s Sighthill campus once a week. You will learn practical skills needed to complete tasks such as timing belt replacement and valve adjustment.
During these evening classes, you will look at the diagnosis of faults that can occur in a motor vehicle engine using a variety of computerised diagnostic equipment. This class can be taken as a progression from the basic maintenance class offered at Edinburgh College as well as a stand-alone class for those with a good knowledge of motor vehicle maintenance looking to learn more about engine systems.
The course is taught by teachers with industry experience using the latest industry technologies. You will be taught in Edinburgh College workshops and work on live vehicles to best simulate a real working environment. The workshops have all the necessary resources for you to fully engage in the motor vehicle industry.
There are no specific entry requirements but previous completion of our Automotive Maintenance (Basic) course is preferred or a good understanding of motor vehicle maintenance.
This course will allow progression onto full-time automotive courses taught at Edinburgh College.
