This is a vocational and skills-specific course suitable if you want to pursue Journalism as a career.

Journalists must have the essential skills of writing and research but are now expected to record sound, shoot video and edit on digital systems. They are also increasingly expected to produce their own web content. This course has been developed to ensure that you are well versed and practiced in digital skills which are the future of Journalism.

You will acquire skills on this course to enable you to position yourself for the world of work, or further study. On successful completion of the course, you will have an opportunity to continue into the second year of the HND Practical Journalism course, subject to successfully completing all units, having acceptable attendance, successful tutor review and the availability of places.

Subjects include:
News Writing, Feature Writing, Research and Interview Skills, Sub-editing, Scots Law, Radio News,
Radio Interviewing, Public Affairs (politics), Graded Unit.





Entry Requirements

Higher English; or NQ Media; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview and written test.
