If you have an enthusiasm for teaching English as a second language, this full-time course will support you in developing the knowledge and understanding, skills, attributes and values necessary to enhance your professional practice in an education role, whether you are new to teaching or an experienced teacher.

You will have opportunities to develop your professional knowledge of English language teaching within a global context, with particular emphasis on the links between language theory, practice and research. Additionally, you will acquire the skills and confidence to teach English as a second language through observations, lesson planning and micro-teaching.

A key part of this course is your dissertation, where you will build up your research skills in order to apply them to a TESOL-related issue. You will explore and examine these educational issues to develop new ways of thinking and understanding, to inform your future career.

Entry Requirements

You'll need to be a graduate or be able to provide evidence that you can work at postgraduate level. You also need to have experience of working in educational settings however you do not have to be currently employed in an educational setting.
