Celtic Culture with Gaelic: Access to Higher Education (SWAP)

This course is part of the Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP). This course is available on a residential and nonresidential basis for adults aged 18 or over with few or no qualifications. If you complete the course successfully, you can progress to higher education programmes such as Celtic Culture with Gaelic and Primary Education. This course includes a residential cultural visit to Sabhal Mòr Ostaig in Skye to develop Gaelic language skills.

Content:
Celtic Studies; Contemporary Gaelic Language and Culture; Gaelic: Speaking and Writing for New Learners; Gaidhlig: Speaking and Writing for Fluent Learners; Storytelling in the Celtic Tradition; Heritage Industry in Scotland; ICT; History of the Celts in Scotland; Politics of the Celtic Nations; Literature; Maths; Family History and Genealogy; Contemporary Gaelic Music and Song.

Entry Requirements

You must have been out of formal education for 3 years or more (or 5 years if you already have Higher or HN qualifications). There can be special circumstances where an applicant has failed exams or an HNC programme within the last 3 to 5 years because of illness or family circumstances.
