This three-year training programme provides the necessary training and qualifications for employment as a Marine Electro Technical Officer.
There are a number of elements to the programme and also a compulsory sea time requirement of seven months.
The programme is structured into 5 phases:
Phase 1 - College phase where you will complete academic subjects from the SQA’s HND Marine Electro-Technology qualification, compulsory STCW training, part of ETO Workshop Skills and Phase 1 Engine Room Ready training.
Phase 2 - Sea phase where you will start your MNTB training record book in addition to a work-based learning course and a distance learning maths course.
Phase 3 - College phase where you will complete academic subjects from the SQA’s HND Marine Electro-Technology qualification, compulsory STCW training, ETO Workshop Skills and Engine Room Ready training.
Phase 4 - Sea phase where you will complete your MNTB training record book.
Phase 5 - College phase where you will complete HND ETO qualification in addition to preparing for your MCA Oral Examination and your final STCW training.
Higher Maths and/or a physical science subject plus 4 subjects at National 5 including English, Maths and a physical science subject; or NC Shipping and Maritime Operations. Interview.
You must have a sponsoring company in order to fulfil the sea time requirement of this programme.
