If you are interested in pursuing a career in popular or traditional music performance, this course is designed for you. It provides a strong grounding in core disciplines which allow you to develop and enhance your musical skills and understanding of the music industries.
Mandatory units are:
Creative Industries Infrastructure; Music theory 1; Music: graded unit 1; Working in the creative Industries; Music first study 1: instrument; Music first study 1: composition; Professional practice for musicians.
Option units may include:
Keyboard skills for music production; Music history 1; Songwriting 1; Digital audio workstations 1; Creative project; Music and image: video; Music: live performance skills 1; Music: second study composition; Recording techniques 1; Sequencing and programming.
1 Higher; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. You will be asked to attend for interview and audition. Grade 4/5 in an instrument or singing.
You can progress to year two of the BA (Hons) Applied Music or BA (Hons) Popular Music
