Thinking of a career in the IT Industry? There are still many openings available in computing and IT at all levels, despite the economy. This course will allow you to study towards an up-to-date qualification in many of the skills that are in demand for many different types of career in computing, or information and communication technologies.

This is a hands-on course which will allow you to study towards an up-to-date qualification, covering many of the skills that are in high demand for a range of different careers in the software development/programming sector of the computer industry. These include developing skills in C# and Java, System Design, Android Development, XML, Event Driven Programming, Databases and Project Management.

This course will prepare you for either employment in a junior developer role within the IT Industry or progression to HND second year in Software Development or Computer Science. Also, this course provides you with the entry level to a wide range of university courses in computing.

Entry Requirements

1 relevant Higher plus 3 subjects at National 5 including Computing Science; or NQ Computing; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Interview.

Progression Routes

Second year of HND Computing programmes, and entry into the first year of related BSc Computing degree programmes at most universities.
