The NPA Playwork and Childcare supports learners to gain knowledge and understanding that will help them to contribute to play and development of children and young people. Learners will have the opportunity to develop their personal qualities, knowledge and skills in play, playwork and childcare, communication and development wellbeing, and health and safety surrounding the topic.
The course comprises of units, which cover topics such as play, child development, children’s rights, working with children and young people. The learner will be placed within a playwork or childcare setting one day per week. This is a beneficial opportunity as it enables learners to apply their theory to practice.
Development and Wellbeing of Children and Young People; Working with Children and Young People;
Rights and Protection; The Process of Play; Practice of Play; Supporting Children and Young People in a Play Setting
4 subjects at National 5 preferably including English. An interview is part of the selection process. You must also provide one suitable reference.
