Throughout the course you will develop an understanding and knowledge of the husbandry, housing, care and welfare needs of animals, and gain the skills required to undertake a supervisory level job within the animal care industry. Moreover, this course will provide you with the confidence and ability to be able to work with others in the industry and provide the highest standards of care and welfare to the animals for which you may be responsible.

Over the year you will cover a variety of units which take an indepth look into animal welfare, health and disease and animal anatomy and physiology. During this time you will also look at animal behaviour and nutrition.

Content includes: Small Animal Health and Disease; Animal Welfare; Small Animal Nutrition; Animal Behaviour; Companion Animal Anatomy and Physiology; Companion Animal Handling and First Aid.

Entry Requirements

2 Highers at CC preferably including English, Maths or Biology plus English, Maths and Biology at National 5 (if not held at Higher); or NC Animal Care.

You must have at least 1 week formal work experience within the animal care industry.
