Our Civil Engineering Construction Management course will allow you to develop a comprehensive understanding of Civil Engineering and Infrastructure projects, and develop advanced skills relating to the design, supervision and management of civil engineering projects. It will prepare you for a career as an Incorporated Engineer in the Civil Engineering sector. The cross-disciplinary nature of the programme means that professional accreditation by the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) will also be possible. Dual accreditation provides alternative, but complimentary, professional pathways for graduates.

Year 1:
Construction Modelling; Surveying and Monitoring in the Built and Natural Environment; Construction Technology 1; Civil Engineering Applications; Cost Control Principles; Introduction to Materials; Introduction to Engineering Design; Introductory Maths for Civil Engineering OR eConstruction.

Year 2:
Construction Technology 2; Mathematics for Engineers and Scientists 1; Structural Mechanics; Hydraulics & Hydrology A; Civil Engineering Materials; Cost Modelling and Measurement; Design Studies A - Problem Solving; Mathematics for Engineers and Scientists 2.

Year 3:
Design of Steel Elements; Geology and Soil Properties; Structural Analysis; Procurement and Contracts; Design for Construction; Design of Concrete Elements; Innovation in Construction Practice; Environmental Engineering A.

Year 4:
Dissertation; Civil Engineering Design Project; Geotechnical Engineering; Sustainability for Construction Professionals OR Temporary Works Design; Foundation Engineering; Urban Drainage and Water Supply OR Water and Wastewater Treatment.

Entry Requirements

2021 entry requirements:
Standard entry: 4/5 Highers at AABB or BBBBC plus English and Maths at National 5.

Widening access entry: 4 Highers at BBBC plus English and Maths at National 5.

For entry to Level 2 you would require 2 Advanced Highers at BC plus 5 Highers at BBBBC including Maths at B.
