An advanced social care course for learners with a commitment to a career in the social care sector.
It incorporates 3 units from SVQ 3 Health and Social Care, and has a significant practical placement element.

Content:
Care in Contemporary Society, Leadership Starts with Me, Health, Wellbeing and Safeguarding, Lifespan Development Theoretical Approaches, Care Practice, Graded Unit, Understanding Loss and the Process of Grief, Understanding and Supporting Behaviour, Mental Health Issues in a Care Setting, Plus 3 SVQ units.

Entry Requirements

English at Higher or National 5 plus 100+ hours care work experience. Or NC Health and Social Care (Level 6) inclusive of work placement. Aptitude test and interview.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

Progression Routes

The course may allow students to progress to University, particularly degree courses in Social Work, and can also lead to progression to mental health nursing.
