City Campus
Each year, places are available for very able applicants who have a predominantly non-science background (i.e. those who have not studied either Higher or A-Level Chemistry). This is not a Foundation course, and applicants will be expected to have demonstrated comparable performance to those with a science background who come straight into the BDS Dentistry course.
The course
For each student the course provides a modern, inspiring and tailored programme of study helping them to establish a strong platform for their progression towards the 5 year BDS degree. Modules of study are normally selected from the following categories:
Life Sciences; Anatomy; Psychology; Specialist dental modules which introduce students to interesting aspects of paraclinical and/or laboratory dentistry; Student Selected Component (students research and write a report on a clinical topic of interest).
2020 entry requirements:
5 Highers at AAAAB (first sitting) including not more than one science subject excluding Chemistry plus English at National 5. Offers will be conditional on the attainment of 3 Advanced Highers or crash Highers in 6th year.
All applicants will be expected to undertake the UCAT test before they apply.
All potential dentistry students are required to undergo screening for blood borne viruses (Hepatitis B and C, and HIV). You will also be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check.
