This introduction level course is aimed at providing students with the skills and knowledge required to pursue a career in social care as a Support Worker or progress NQ Social Care level 6. The course covers many aspects of the caring role with a range of service users.
Care: Values and Principles in Care; Care: Human development; Care: Social Influences; Guidance; Understanding and Supporting People in Health and Social Care Setting; Mental Health Issues: An Introduction; Maintaining Safety in a Care Setting; Communication; Working with Individuals with Additional Support Needs; Introduction to Counselling; Steps Programme (Cardonald only); Working with Others; Recognise, Respond and Report Abuse in a Care Setting; Recognise, Respond and Report Challenging Behaviour; Social Services in Scotland: An Introduction; Understanding the Needs of the Older Person; Understanding Loss and Grief.
3 subjects at National 4. Applications will also be considered from those without formal qualifications but with relevant experience. You will be invited to attend an interview.
