Our associate student places enable you to enrol in a Queen Margaret University degree but for the first year, you will study at Edinburgh College on HNC Fitness Health and Exercise. Upon successful completion, you have a guaranteed place to complete your degree in BSc(Hons) Physical Activity Health and Wellbeing at Queen Margaret University.
What are the benefits for me of taking this route? If you are unsure about making the leap from school to university then studying at college can be a good way to prepare yourself. As you work through your course the college will prepare you for the independent learning style and the academic standards required at university. If you have been out of education for a while or have been working in the industry and now want to gain a relevant qualification college may also be a more suitable entry route for you.
You will learn:
How to work with a range of population groups in exercise, physical activity and health improvement settings; How to develop your own practical skills and techniques in structured sessions; How to plan, prepare and carry out fitness training programmes; An understanding of sport and exercise nutrition; Research and reporting skills.
2 Highers, preferably English and a science subject; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. You should be currently participating regularly in exercise and fitness activities. Interview and practical test.
