This two-year day release programme of study is designed to teach you the essential skills necessary for the role of an architectural technician. You will attend college one day per week over two academic years while employed within the construction industry.

The course will allow you to explore the technical side of design developing an understanding of how buildings work. You will also learn about the full architectural process from sketching and computer-aided design to materials specifications and construction technologies.

Course includes:
Architectural Design; Sketching and Drawing; Architectural Procedures; Building Services in Large Buildings; Construction Materials and Specifications; Construction Technology: Substructure; Construction Technology: Industrial/Commercial; Superstructure Design of Building Structures; Statutory Control of Buildings; Architectural Technology: Graded Unit 1 CAD 2D I; Health and Safety in Construction; Standard Forms of Construction Contract.

Entry Requirements

1 Higher plus Maths at National 5. Ideally, you should be employed as a technician within a related discipline.
