This 18 credit course includes units on the principles and values of Care and Human Biology, as well as other health-related units appropriate for a career in Nursing. You will also learn the core skills of Numeracy and ICT.

In order to equip you with flexible qualifications for progression, you will complete the Scottish Highers in Care and Human Biology, as well as the Communication (NC) and Literature 1 units which equate to Higher English for entry to many university courses.

During the course you will take part in a small number of study days in Oban, where you will undertake learning activities in a clinical environment.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 including English and a science subject, preferably Biology. Experience of working in a care setting is desirable. Entry subject to interview.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

Progression Routes

HNC Social Care, first year of a Nursing Programme at a variety of universities in Scotland, BA Health and Social Studies at University of Highlands and Islands or employment in a health or care setting.
