The Level 2 Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Playwork at SCQF Level 6 allows candidates to demonstrate competence in job related skills in their particular area of work. This qualification has been designed in partnership/jointly awarded with SkillsActive — the Sector Skills Council for Active Leisure, Learning, and Wellbeing — to ensure its relevancy to the sector.

Subjects include:

Contribute to the development and maintenance of relationships with children, young people, and others in the playwork setting; Create playwork settings that support freely chosen self-directed play;
Contribute to the health, safety, and wellbeing of children and young people in the playwork setting;
Evaluate to improve your own practice and the work of your playwork team; Identify safeguarding concerns relating to children and young people in the playwork setting.

Entry Requirements

Candidates must be in a workplace where they are carrying out relevant tasks and responsibilities which allow then to gather the required evidence. No prior qualifications are required to undertake this qualification, although a minimum of six months experience in this sector is required
