This unique course is the only one of its type available in Scotland. It will equip you with a wide range of specialist skills in the field of Stringed Instrument Construction and Repair. It builds on the skills and expertise gained on the NQ Stringed Musical Instrument Making course. The NQ and HND courses provide a three-year programme of continuous training and is delivered by a team of practising professional luthiers, makers and repairers in a small friendly well-equipped workshop.

Content:
Wood Machining; Major Repairs; Jig Making; Instrument Inlay and Soundhole Cutting Techniques; Manufacture of Instrument Necks; Manufacture of Instrument Body Components; Team Building Project; Practical Acoustics and Materials Testing; Assembly of Instrument Bodies and Necks; Finishing; Graded unit 1.

Entry Requirements

NQ Stringed Musical Instrument Making (Level 6).
