This Engineering Pre-Apprenticeship course is ideal for students starting out in engineering as it provides practical hands-on training and focuses on improving broad-based practical skills and knowledge with a hands-on approach. Practical skills covered include assembly, fitting, engineering drawing using a project based learning model.

You will gain SQA Engineering skills units, practical experience and case studies of real life situations and problems you could encounter in an engineering job role. The course is open to both school leavers and those looking to change or further their careers. It is also suitable as a refresher course for updating engineering skills and for those wanting to learn new skills.

Subjects Include:
Engineering workshop skills; Engineering assembly skills; Industry challenge project; Engineering materials; Graphical engineering communication; Engineering dimensional control; Engineering project
Communication; Numeracy and/or Mathematics: Craft 1; Health and safety: engineering; Essential Skills including problem solving, working with others and ICT.

Entry Requirements

National 4 English, Maths and preferably Engineering Science or Physics. Interview.
