Content

This course aims to give you a thorough grounding in the engineering principles required by those entering employment at technician level and offers two specific routes (please state preference when applying):

The Mechanical route develops skills required by servicing and manufacturing industries

or

The Electronic route develops the practical applications of electronics in industry, also covering the necessary theory in electronic principles and maths.

The Mechanical route (Code 1M) includes the following subjects: Statics; Thermofluids; Dynamics; Pneumatics and Hydraulics.

The Electronic route (Code 1E) includes: Electrical Principles; Fundamental Electronics; Electronic Test Equipment.

All students will also study the following core skill units which follow an engineering theme: Communication; Maths; Information Technology.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5 (2 at A or B including Maths and 2 at A-D); or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5.
