Content

Throughout the course you will develop skills from a combination of academic study and clinical placement with an approved veterinary practice which much be achieved to allow for registration as a qualified Veterinary Nurse. You will learn the veterinary nursing competencies required to undertake practical patient care and theatre duties.

Regular clinical skills labs will prepare you for practical clinical examinations. You will gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of veterinary nursing by studying a wide range of subjects incorporating anatomy, physiology, nursing skills, pharmacology, anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, theatre and surgical practice and animal welfare and behaviour. Much of your third year will be spent on a placement in an approved veterinary practice.

Entry Requirements

4 Highers at BBBB including English or an English based subject and Biology (or Human Biology), Chemistry or Physics; English preferred plus National 5 English (if not held at Higher), Maths and a science subject. Four weeks work experience in a veterinary practice.
