The HNC Visual Communication is a practical, skills-based course. It provides the opportunity to explore a wide range of creative tools and techniques relevant to graphic design, photography, moving image and illustration.

Working on a range of creative projects, you will develop an understanding of how your evolving creative skill set can be applied through the design process.

Mandatory units:
Art and design context; Visual communication: an introduction; Visual communication: graded unit 1; Digital imaging; Art and design project.

Option units:
Graphic Design; Illustration; Mixed Media; Developmental Drawing; Portfolio production; Photography: An Introduction; Personal Development Planning; Art and Design: creative process; Typography.

Entry Requirements

1 Higher, or Foundation Apprenticeship Creative and Digital Media, or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. You may also be required to submit a portfolio and may be invited for an interview.
