Applicants with proven evidence of adverse circumstances leading to significant educational disadvantage can apply for entry to Gateway to Dentistry.

The entry requirements for this group of applicants is lower than for the BDS Dentistry (A200) course. Applicants will be required to provide evidence of significant adverse circumstances such as lower than average progression rates to higher education from their school, limited family income, neighbourhood or home circumstances not conducive to study, education affected by adverse events at critical times or other exceptional factors.

Entry Requirements

2023 entry requirements:

Advanced Higher Biology or Chemistry at B plus 5 Highers at AAABB including Biology (preferably Human Biology) and Chemistry.

All applicants will be expected to undertake the UCAT test before they apply.

All potential dentistry students are required to undergo screening for blood borne viruses (Hepatitis B and C, and HIV). You will also be required to undertake a Disclosure Scotland check.
