Do you have a burning desire to change career? Maybe you have been looking into teaching as a next step. You will study the full N5 Mathematics qualification and two units that give equivalence to Higher English. These are a minimum requirement set by the GTCS General Teaching Council for Scotland.

The rest of your programme will be dependent on the scientific area(s) that you wish to study. E.g. N5 and Higher Chemistry, N5 and Higher Human Biology, N5 and Higher Physics, N5 and Higher Mathematics.

Entry Requirements

You should have a minimum of 3 clear years out of formal education and a history of good mathematics qualifications from school but for whatever reason you did not continue in your studies.

You will be interviewed and your numeracy skills will be tested during the interview period. You will also have to supply two (2) references that show your ability to learn and be successful.

Progression into any study with teaching as subject will require PVG Disclosure Scotland Criminal Records checking.
