This is a work based qualification and all evidence must be in relation to the individual's job role and responsibility. The award is made up of 8 units, 4 of which are mandatory.
The mandatory units are as follows:
Promote effective communication; Promote health, safety and security in the work setting; Develop your practice through reflection and learning; Promote the safeguarding of children and young people
In addition to the above, 4 further units must be chosen from a number of optional units.
Individuals must be in continuous employment within a Children and Young People setting for a minimum of 16 hours per week (paid or voluntary) with a minimum of 6 months' experience. Individuals must have a sound understanding of current guidance and frameworks, legislation, policies and procedures applicable to the work setting. Selection for the course will be by interview.
This qualification is recognised by the Scottish Social Services Council for registration requirements.
