This course is run in collaboration with ScottishPower and designed to introduce you to electrical engineering and prepare you for an apprenticeship.
As part of the course you will attend sessions with ScottishPower at their training centre and may be offered a place on their apprentice programme. This training will involve learning about overhead lines and jointing and cabling practical skills. These opportunities will be supported by your College lecturers. Practical work experience with ScottishPower will help you to gain knowledge of the engineering industry and will heighten your employability skills.
The course is a mixture of both workshop and classroom sessions providing an introduction to the knowledge and skills needed for either an apprenticeship or higher level in studies in Electrical Engineering. Subjects studied include:
Electrical Principles; Testing and Measurement; Safe Working Practice; Wiring Skills.
4 subjects at National 4 including English, Maths and a science subject.
