This course is a launch pad for progression to advanced level NC courses in computer animation or games development by learning how a game is constructed from initial concept to final product. To benefit from this course you should have an interest in playing a variety of computer games, exploring how they work and what makes a game enjoyable. You will enjoy working with groups of people and solving problems and be able to communicate your ideas effectively

You will study: Computer games design, media assets and development; Computer gameplay; Character design; Artificial intelligence; Games programming; Mobile game development; User centred design; Mathematics for games; Preparation for Higher: Maths.

The Core Skills of ICT, numeracy, communication, problem solving and working with others will be developed and certified on this course.

Entry Requirements

4 subjects at National 5; or NC Computing with Digital Media; or NC Computer Games Development; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5; National 5 Maths. Interview.
