Access to Health and Biological Sciences is run in partnership with the Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP) and is designed for adults who have been away from education, typically for two years or more. The course will introduce you to a range of science subjects to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding required for application to the first year of a university degree programme or HNC course at SCQF Level 7.

Subjects include: Biology (up to Higher level); Chemistry (up to Higher level); Maths (National 5); Physics (up to Higher level); Communications; Information Technology.

Assessment will be continuous with a mixture of practical and theoretical assessments. There is no final examination.

Entry Requirements

No formal entry requirements. Applicants will usually have been out of full time education for at least 3 years and should be able to demonstrate an aptitude for science. Interview.

Progression Routes

Relevant HNC course.

1st year entry of science based degrees at Glasgow Caledonian University, University of the West of Scotland, University of Glasgow, Strathclyde University, University of Stirling and Heriot Watt University.
