This course is a good option for those who are interested developing the knowledge, key skills and values needed to work in health and social care. It includes the National Progression Award (NPA) health and social care: skills for practice which is designed for health and social care support workers. If you are interested in working as a support worker, this course will teach you about effective practice.

The course includes the following units from the NPA:

Practical caring skills; Safe practice in care; Person-centred approach to care. It also includes various core skills plus:

First aid; Human body; Social services in Scotland.

The course involves essays, reports, presentations and projects based on course content, and an assessed work placement.

Entry Requirements

Subjects at National 5 including English and a science or social science subject. Entry subject to interview.
