This course provides you with a recognised entry qualification for nurse training and other professions allied to medicine. The course will enable you to develop knowledge and skills relevant to the health care sector. You will be expected to attend a practical placement within the health sector, which will enable you to apply your learning to the practice setting.
Units delivered on the course include:
Physiology; Therapeutic Relationships; Sociology; Safe Working Practice; Essential skills for Practice; and a Graded Unit. You will have a practice placement within an acute /non acute setting 2 days per week throughout the course.
Applicants who will not be 17 by 31st August 2019 are unable to apply for this course due to placement requirements.
2 Highers including English; or NQ Health and Social Care, or Foundation Apprenticeship Social Services and Healthcare; or relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 6. Participation at an information session, skills assessment and interview forms part of the selection criteria.
You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.
You will immunised in line with Occupational Health's recommendation and you will require an Fit note issued by Occupational Health.
After successful completion of the course you can progress on to a number of health related degree programmes as well as the Diploma year of BA Education and Social Services.
