This course will equip you with the range of knowledge, skills and values you’ll need for working in care practice.

As well as offering an SVQ, it includes NPA in Health and Social Care: Skills for Practice.

Each week you’ll spend 2 days in college and 2 days on placement in a care setting, working with the staff team. Placements cover a whole range of care services across Ayrshire from the local authority, private and voluntary sectors.

Entry Requirements

5 relevant subjects at National 5 including English and preferably Maths, or a relevant NC course such as NC Health and Social Care, or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Entry is subject to interview. Reference.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

Progression Routes

Successful students can move into employment as a Support Worker, Home Care Worker or Care Assistant.
