This course will develop awareness and understanding of all aspects of children's growth and development from birth to 12 years. It provides the practical skills needed to recognise and meet the needs of the developing child. It will also enhance communication and interpersonal skills and there is a two day placement per week at an approved establishment selected by the College.
Child development; Child development: Theory; Services for children and young people; Supporting a Curriculum in an Early Education and Childcare setting; Play in early education and childcare; Play in Early Education and Childcare: Workplace; Developing an understanding of working with children; Developing an understanding of working with children: Workplace experience; Supporting Children with Additional Support Needs; Communication; Numeracy; Information and communication technology
4 subjects at National 5 including English; or successful completion of NC Child, Health and Social Care; or other relevant national qualifications at SCQF Level 5. Interview.
