Motherwell Campus, Cumbernauld Campus
Creative Writing 1 is designed to allow students to explore the techniques involved in creative writing and to enhance their confidence and competence in writing. Furthermore, it can be used to encourage self-expression and to develop an awareness of the creative possibilities of language. Students will explore three areas of creative writing throughout the course: writing to expressing feeling; writing about a specific event from varied points of view; writing to convey a relationship.
Throughout the course students will be introduced to various types of creative writing; from poetry to prose, to autobiographical to script writing. This allows students to engage in all aspects of writing and encourages them to find an area where they feel they engage with style and structure, providing a platform to express themselves and perhaps follow in the footsteps of MacCaig, Austen, Shakespeare or Doyle.
No formal entry requirements.
After completing Creative Writing 1, students will be able to move on to Creative Writing 2 and/or Higher English.
