This course gives you a good introduction to sport and fitness, with a particular focus on the fitness industry, its opportunities and what you’ll need for a successful career in it.

You’ll spend most of your time in our fitness suites and sports facilities, both indoor and outdoor. Motivation and participation is essential, and you’ll work alongside your peers, gaining confidence and developing leadership skills.

Subjects include: Contemporary Fitness and Exercise Training; Planning Personal Fitness; Nutrition, Health and Wellbeing; Sports Activities; Circuit Training; Resistance Training; Teamwork through Sport and Recreation; Developing Leadership within Physical Activities; Citizenship through Sport and Fitness; Human Anatomy, Physiology and Physical Activities.

Entry Requirements

Some subjects at National 4. Subjects at National 5 preferred. Or a relevant NC at SCQF Level 4. A place on the course is subject to interview.

You will require a satisfactory criminal record check from Disclosure Scotland to show that you are suitable for this type of course. Contact Disclosure Scotland for details on the type you would need.

Progression Routes

Progression on to a relevant course at SCQF Level 6 or employment, or HNC Coaching and Developing Sport.
